The Mud Buddy

The Mud Buddy (Patent #: US 6,848,229 B2) is a Revolutionary new method for installing mud pans. Save Money, Save time, the perfect pan every time no matter where the drain lies. The Mud Buddy consists of male and female interlocking sliding extensions, joined by 90° degree angle corner brackets, making the Mud Buddy suitable for any size shower. The Mud Buddy is constructed of sturdy light weight aluminum, it's easy to clean and is built to last.

Benefits of the Mud Buddy:
The Mud Buddy is designed to cut down installation time to a minimum. This takes the guess work out of set up, pitch and leveling. The Mud Buddy can be set up and leveled before the mud is ever mixed. This is beneficial because mud goes through a heat process when not being installed and finished in a timely manner. Going through this heat process weakens the integrity of the mud substantially.

With a simple cleaning, The Mud Buddy can be used over and over again, and will pay for itself in just a few uses. Its expandable form also allows screeding to be done without needing several different sized screed rods.

With that being said, we at Rossi Tools are determined on changing the process in which mud pans are currently being made. This includes home made methods and free form troweling which gives you an unleveled pitch, birdbaths, and different sized cuts along the wall at the base of the pan.

The Mud Buddy will change the way the tile industry looks at how a finished product (the mud pan) should be.

  • Leveling The Mud Buddy: Lay a level on one side of the form. Using a flat-headed screw driver, adjust the leveler on the lower corner bracket until it is level with the higher corner brackets on that side. Move the level to the next side and repeat leveling process until the tool is completely level.
